Upcoming training, deadlines and calls
Budget 2020: increase in youth services funding 'small step in right direction'
NYCI welcomed the additional €2 million in funding provided for youth services nationwide announced by the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs yesterday. We also highlighted other measures to support young people including jobseekers allowance increases and a special fund for climate action.

One World Week 2019 - Get Involved!
This year’s One World Week takes place from December 1st to 8th 2019 and focuses on Climate Revolution and the Sustainable Development Goals! EU Youth Dialogue Survey Closing Soon
We’re inviting young people aged 13 to 30 to contribute to this survey as part of the Consultation phase of the ‘EU Youth Dialogue’. Consultations are currently happening across all of the EU member states on Creating opportunities for youth. It focuses on Quality Employment, Quality Youth Work and Opportunities for Rural Youth. Reflective Practice Group
The NYCI Equality and Intercultural Programme is looking for expressions of interest from youth workers interested in joining a Reflective Practice Group looking at: empathic listening, compassionate communication, and bringing these practices into our youth work and back to our youth work organisations. Ireland's UN Youth Delegates Announced by Tánaiste
The message from Valery Molay from Dublin and Jack O’Connor from Kilcolman, County Limerick - both selected to join Ireland’s official delegation to the United Nations for the UN General Assembly in New York recently - was that world leaders at the UN Climate Action Summit must listen to the voice of youth and take action. Positive Sexual Health – Conference & Youth Summit

Young Social Innovators is delighted to announce that we are open for applications for our Social Innovation Programmes for 2019/20! Irish Girl Guides Undertake Service Projects In India
Fifty members of Irish Girl Guides undertook service projects during a 12-day visit to Sangam World Centre in Pune, India. The trip was arranged as a cultural and educational experience to mark the centenary of Senior Branch (IGG’s branch for 14-30 year olds). Participants undertook service projects in the local community, including in a nursing home and in a school for children with disabilities. Read participant blog posts on the IGG website>>

YouthWorkAndYou.org is a creative, interactive e-learning platform designed & hosted by the Youth Work eLearning Partnership, an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership coordinated by Maynooth University.
Designed by youth work educators, it consists of five modules containing interactive videos and downloadable content along with a comprehensive repository of youth work sources and resources. It is free to access, share, and adapt. Find out more >>
Amnesty International Ireland Student Activism Summit

Young, Paperless & Powerful
Children born or living in Ireland whose parents are undocumented have no rights to residency here. Young, Paperless & Powerful is a youth project at MRCI asking Minister Charlie Flanagan to ensure that no child or young person grow up undocumented in Ireland. IAYO Chamber Music Workshop
The Irish Association of Youth Orchestra National Chamber Music Workshop for Strings, Woodwind and Brass will take place in Waterford on November 2nd and 3rd. This weekend course is suitable for strings, woodwind, and brass players from grades 2-5 and ages 9-14 years. The weekend will culminate in a free concert. Find out more >>
Chatterbox - Learn a Language to Facilitate Refugee Integration
Irish Red Cross is partnering with the Red Cross in Italy, Latvia, and the UK to implement the Amplifying the Voices of Refugees and Asylum Seekers for Integration and Life Skills (AVAIL) project. Chatterbox employs refugee teachers to deliver language learning to students who can sign up for 5 hours of free tuition. Find out more here >>

ENAR are calling for the government to introduce hate crime legislation immediately, to protect people from various minorities in Ireland. The Arts to Impact fund has reopened and will close for applications in January 22nd 2020. This is a great opportunity for organisations using arts and culture to deliver impact. This is a €3.2m fund for innovative projects within the arts sector. The fund details can be found here.

Can you spot fake news?
Fill in this survey to help researchers develop new tools for identifying false stories. This survey was created by Dublin City University and Graz University of Technology to find out what factors influence people's ability to identify false stories. As part of the EU funded Provenance project, the results will inform the development of new tools to help people evaluate online content.
