Folks, Stacey Abrams is right.
Republicans across the country are rushing to implement new barriers to the ballot box.
Closing polling places, implementing restrictive voter ID requirements, and limiting mail-in and early voting are just some of the changes Republicans are making to create unnecessary barriers to the voting booth.
These changes are popping up all over the country and deliberately make it harder to exercise the right to vote -- especially for young people and communities of color.
The reality is, Republicans are doing this to keep people from voting so they can win elections. I think everyone wins when everyone votes!
Protecting and expanding voting rights is one of the most important challenges facing us today. We need to take these threats from Republicans seriously and double down on preserving our access to the ballot box. Can you chip in $15 to fuel our fight for free and fair elections?
It’s important that we keep pushing for widespread systemic changes to our voting system so that everyone is able to participate -- which is why I’m proud to have been appointed to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee’s (DLCC) State Voting Rights Council.
The State Voting Rights Council brings 17 Democratic lawmakers who are especially dedicated to protecting and expanding voting rights from across the country together to strategize how to tackle these assaults against voting rights head on.
I fundamentally believe that our democracy only works when everyone’s voice is heard, and I’m proud to be working with other lawmakers to make that dream a reality.
Stopping these unlawful attacks on democracy isn’t a one person job -- I need your support to stay in the fight. Will you pitch in $15, or whatever you’re able, and stand with me as I push for the protection and expansion of voting rights?
Thanks for joining me in the fight for free and fair elections,
Morgan McGarvey
