John,
One of the most exciting parts of President Biden’s proposals for Home and Community-Based Care (HCBS) during the campaign was the idea that his policies would clear states’ wait lists for care.
But now, some in Congress who oppose this historic and critical investment in HCBS are trying to eliminate those supports, so the wait lists continue on forever.
We’re looking for experiences of people on home care wait lists so we can show decision makers in DC the real impacts these policies would have.
Have you experienced a wait list for home care? If so, what would clearing wait lists mean to you and your family? If not, how would supporting home care change your family’s life?

In some states, wait lists can last for FIVE YEARS OR MORE.
This means that families who need support don’t get it. It means that family members have to leave their jobs to provide caregiving. It means that people who would rather live in their own homes have to move into nursing homes. It means that people don’t receive the supports they need to live with dignity.
How have home care wait lists affected your family? Share your story today.
