Reproductive freedom is under attack.
This year alone, extremist state lawmakers across the country have
introduced over 500 draconian anti-choice laws designed to make it
difficult or impossible to access abortion and other reproductive care.
And now, the Supreme Court has agreed to take up a major abortion case
from Mississippi that could threaten the precedent set by Roe v. Wade.
We must act boldly and with urgency to codify a person’s right to choose,
free from government interference.
That’s why yesterday — in partnership with Senators Richard Blumenthal and
Tammy Baldwin, and Representatives Judy Chu, Lois Frankel, and Veronica
Escobar — I introduced the Women’s Health Protection Act, to guarantee
equal access to abortion care, everywhere.

as the fundamental human right that it is?

Make no mistake: Cruel, anti-choice state laws like Mississippi’s ban on
abortion at 15 weeks of pregnancy aim to restrict reproductive choice and
bodily autonomy, and will have a disproportionate impact on low-income
people and people of color.
Abortion care is a fundamental human right. By passing the Women’s Health
Protection Act, we can guarantee abortion care is accessible to all,
regardless of income, gender identity, or race.

message that our movement won’t stop fighting for a future where all
people have the autonomy to make their own reproductive choices.
