June 10, 5:30pm: San Francisco And The Future of Regional Transit

The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) is responsible for distributing federal transportation dollars in the Bay Area, and for planning and coordinating transportation with our 27 different transit agencies, including Muni and BART here in San Francisco.

Come learn from two experts on how these regional transit decisions are made, and specifcially how San Franciscans can make sure our voices are heard.

We'll be talking with Tilly Chang, Executive Director of the San Francisco County Transportation Authority (SFCTA), and Nick Josefowitz, Vice Chair of the MTC and Chief Policy Officer at SPUR.

June 15: Make Mission Street Transit Lanes Permanent!

Mission Street downtown, from 11th Street to 3rd Street, was the first transit-only lane project completed under the Temporary Emergency Transit Lanes (TETL) program. The TETL program was designed to get transit priority on the street quickly to protect essential workers dependent on Muni from being stuck in traffic as car usage returned.

It's now time to make these improvements permanent. Whereas Muni is at 30% of pre-pandemic ridership systemwide, the Mission corridor is at 70%. We have seen traffic congestion increase, but these transit-only lanes have meant that Muni hasn't slowed down. We need our buses permanently protected from traffic to keep people moving efficiently and reliably.

Next Tuesday, the Mission Street TETL project will go before the SFMTA Board (MTAB) for approval to become permanent. Sign up below to receive more information, talking points, and updates on exactly when and how to speak up for permanent transit-only lanes on Mission Street.
