Food & Water Watch helped introduce the first bill to ban fracking on federal lands. And as we bring more and more people together to demand real action against fracking, we're ramping up our national campaign to ban fracking on public lands and everywhere.
Fracking is deadly to people and wildlife, and it’s destroying our planet. But John, there is hope.
People across the country are speaking out to protect our public lands from oil and gas drilling, and they’ve shown that if we work together we can make the change needed to stop fossil fuel companies from putting profit before people and the environment.
Food & Water Watch and supporters like YOU are working to permanently stop fracking and oil and gas drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the sacred Greater Chaco Canyon region. Now we must also fight to stop oil and gas drilling within half a mile of the Dinosaur National Monument.
Shockingly, the Biden administration recently advanced a proposal for oil and gas exploration on the back steps of the Dinosaur National Monument, sparking criticism from Utah public land advocates.
The proposed oil and gas drilling area near Dinosaur National Monument is habitat for the threatened sage grouse. It’s also rich in prehistoric sites and artifacts. And due to the lack of light pollution, it’s one of the few remaining places in the U.S where you can really see the stars!
The proposed drilling would destroy this magical place. Fracking wells cause pollution and noise and light disturbances to wildlife. They will also add more toxic greenhouse gases to our air, risk contaminating nearby water, and contribute to the ever-growing climate crisis.
Together, we CAN ban fracking and protect our public lands, including Dinosaur National Monument, from fossil fuel extraction.
Onward together,
