Californians are facing an insurmountable sum of utility debt. While utility affordability has always been a concern for low-income ratepayers, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing disparities throughout California. Low-income communities and communities of color are most burdened by utility debt.

The past year and a half has been challenging, but the RePower LA coalition has made great strides toward erasing utility debt for LADWP customers.

Tomorrow, Thursday, June 10th ([link removed]) , the RePower LA coalition will be hosting an emergency teach-in on utility debt and its impact on low-income communities and communities of color. Community speakers will share their personal experiences with utility debt, Senator Maria Elena Durazo will be speaking, and we'll all enjoy some live music. We hope that you can join us.

We have until June 15th to impact the 2021-2022 state budget. Frontline communities need your immediate support to make sure funding for utility debt relief is equitably distributed. We are almost there, but we need your help:
1. Attend our emergency utility debt teach-in tomorrow, Thursday, June 10th. ([link removed])
2. Sign our petition to state leaders to demand they erase utility debt and protect California ratepayers. ([link removed])
