URGENT: Cal-OSHA is meeting today to determine new COVID-19 Workplace Standards.
Give Public comment via email before 5pm or verbally at the meeting

Last week, after 9 hours of public comment and deliberation, the Board of the California Occupational Safety and Health Division (Cal-OSHA) voted to revise the COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards that had been put in place in November 2020. However, the Board felt that these were not what they really wanted to move forward with, so created a 3 person subcommittee to come up with better standards, as California transitions to full re-opening on June 15, 2021. These further revised standards were to be presented later this month. However, A Voice for Choice Advocacy was alerted late yesterday that the Cal-OSHA board is having an emergency meeting today, Wednesday June 9, 2021 at 5pm, to update their standards after a meeting with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).

Cal-OSHA is likely to line up with CDC, as CDPH has instructed them to do so. AVFCA's focus is on the segregation and discrimination that will result from unvaccinated and vaccinated persons being treated differently.

Take Action: Please email a public comment before the 5pm meeting to [email protected] [[link removed]] . If you wish to verbally give a 2 minute public comment at the meeting please also email [email protected] [[link removed]] and giving your name and phone number and they will call you back when it is your turn.

Key talking points:

*State your name and where in CA you are from

*State if you are an employee or employer and in what industry or what company you work for.

*Ask to end the current Emergency Temporary Standard and ensure future standards do not create a two tier system unvaccinated vs vaccinated...discrimination, isolation, segregation.

*If you are vaccinated state you are, but that you don't want there to be a two tiered system for the unvaccinated vs vaccinated. Either everyone should wear a mask or it should be voluntary for all.

*CA has high rates of vaccination and low rates of COVID-19. Those unvaccinated are not a threat even if they do not wear a mask.

*Ask for equity for those who have COVID-19 naturally. CDC guidance does not address this group of people either. Solely vaccinated vs unvaccinated.
