John,

The White House has announced that VP Kamala Harris will be taking the lead in the effort to protect voting rights after she told Biden that she was the woman for the job.

But not everyone thinks Harris is cut out for the role, or even qualified for the White House. Shortly after the announcement, Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer complained that Harris was never a “serious candidate” and called her “a big mystery in charge of a lot.” Seemingly exasperated, he asked, “What isn't she supposed to be doing?”

The GOP can't decide if they think Kamala Harris is lazy and “not serious” or if she's secretly in charge of the whole presidency, and Fleischer managed to hint at both in the same brief talking points. Both of these accusations are deeply rooted in racism and misogyny, and we're sick of hearing them. But Democrats know that as the first woman of color in her position, Harris has a unique perspective on protecting voting rights. She was also a co-sponsor on the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and has experience introducing her own voting rights legislation in the Senate. She is the perfect person to lead on expanding voting rights.

The New York Times reports that this will become Harris' “most politically delicate engagement” as “the Senate enters a crucial month in the Democratic drive to enact the farthest-reaching elections overhaul in a generation.” And we refuse to stay silent while the GOP undermines our VP in front of millions.

Today, we need to hear from you. Please, let us know if you refuse to grow numb to the GOP's sexist attacks on women and if you trust Harris to take the lead on one of the most important issues affecting our country:
