Friend of Israel,

In case you missed it, two news stories just broke that demonstrate the serious threat Hamas terror tunnels pose to both Israelis and Palestinians.

First, UNRWA admitted that it found an attack tunnel under one of its schools in Gaza.

The tunnel was found under the UNRWA Zauiton Preparatory Boys' School—a facility that was damaged during last month's conflict.

"UNRWA condemns the existence and potential use by Palestinian armed groups of such tunnels underneath its schools in the strongest possible terms. It is unacceptable that students and staff be placed at risk in such a way."

Second, Hamas itself admitted to the extent of its tunnel network, and its purpose for attacking innocent Israelis.

In a recent interview, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar said the terrorist group still has a majority of its terrorist tunnel network beneath the Gaza Strip.

Sinwar claimed that Hamas still has the ability to launch hundreds of rockets per minute, with a range of 100-200 km. He also warned that the Islamic terror group has 10,000 “martyrs” inside Israel who are “ready to respond.”

Sinwar’s claims may be an exaggeration, as Israel significantly damaged the Hamas tunnel network last month, but clearly a major threat remains.

In an area only 365 square kilometers, there is no doubt that many civilian buildings in Gaza still sit above Hamas’ terror tunnel network.

This is a danger not just to Israel, but to innocent Palestinians who Hamas continues to use as human shields.

As the United Nations and others around the world continue to ignore Hamas’ terrorism—and blame Israel when it acts to stop rockets being launched at its citizens—Israel has few allies to turn to.

But thankfully, Israel can rely on the United States...and you.

With your help, we will continue to work with our nation’s leaders to ensure they understand there is no moral equivalence between Israel’s actions and those of Hamas.
-
Hamas is an Iranian-backed terrorist organization that controls the Gaza Strip. Its charter explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel.

-
Since 2005, Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza have launched over 20,000 rockets and mortars at Israel, carried out more than one hundred suicide bombings and dug dozens of terror tunnels to attack Israeli communities.

-
Hamas deliberately puts Palestinian civilians in danger by firing rockets from civilian areas, including in and around homes, schools, hospitals, and mosques.
