A pair of Senate committees have released a bipartisan report finding numerous intelligence failures and lax security preparation contributed to the January 6th riot at the U.S. Capitol.
The report found that the Intelligence Community (IC) - including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) - failed to provide a warning about potential violence on January 6th.
Components of the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) also failed to convey the full scope of the threat information they possessed about potential violence on January 6th.
The report listed numerous recommendations to prevent future insurrections, including establishing the Civil Disturbance Unit (CDU) as a formal, permanent component of the USCP and ensure its officers are properly trained and equipped at all times.

** Preventing the 'Paycheck Fairness Act'
------------------------------------------------------------
Senate Republicans on Tuesday voted to block consideration of Democrats’ Paycheck Fairness Act ([link removed]) , which would make it easier for employees to sue their employers for alleged gender-based wage discrimination. It failed on a 49-50 vote with all Democratic senators in attendance voting in favor and all Republicans opposed.
The Paycheck Fairness Act would revise existing enforcement mechanisms to prevent wage discrimination based on gender. Exceptions in laws that prohibit wage differences between men and women would be limited to bona fide factors — like education, training, or experience.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) criticized the bill for:
"Exploiting the cause of pay fairness to send a windfall to trial attorneys… Saddling hospitals, schools, and small businesses with crippling new legal burdens if they fail to keep pace with ‘woke’ social norms… And opening an unprecedented new front in the Left’s war on the Second Amendment.”
