Hello Young Democrats,
I look forward to seeing you at our June general membership meeting on Monday, June 21st! We have some very exciting items on the agenda to discuss, including:
- Board elections! Every year in June SVYD holds elections, and all six board positions-- President, Vice President, Membership Director, Political Director, Finance Director, and Secretary-- are up for election. Nominations are followed immediately by elections in the same meeting. I encourage anybody who is interested in serving on the board to put their name forward and run-- it's an incredible opportunity to work with passionate, like-minded Democrats to advance the values and principles we as Young Dems believe in. And yes, you can nominate yourself (but remember, you can't second your own nomination).
- Proposed bylaw amendments to clarify the endorsement process by providing clearer guidelines on irregular elections like ADEM elections, special elections, and recall elections, as well as more detailed parameters for early endorsements. The proposed amendments also change the board position of secretary to communications director to better reflect the responsibilities of the position. A document with the affected bylaw sections can be found here, with the edited/added portions highlighted.
- The 2022 election cycle is on the horizon and that means endorsements! At our June meeting, SVYD will be considering an early endorsement for Andrew Crockett, Young Dem and candidate for county assessor. There will also be some exciting updates for 2022, so stay tuned!
