With this amazing weather and our city beginning to return to normal, I'm happy to share a list of family friendly events going on in and around East Anchorage over the summer. I look forward to seeing you out and about at the various community councils, picnics, and family friendly events I've shared below.
Family Fun Events

Chanshtnu Muldoon Park Garden Parties 
6:00-8:00pm 
Tuesday, June 8 & Thursday, June 10
Help create Anchorage’s newest community food forest and community garden at Chanshtnu Muldoon Park! This is an outdoor, family friendly, COVID safe activity. Tools will be provided. Contact Kristi Wood for more information: [email protected] or call/text: 907-278-2453. 



Spirit of Muldoon Picnic

Chanshtnu Muldoon Park
Northeast Anchorage *free* community picnic & vaccine clinic. We will have food from local restaurants (Waffles & Whatnot, Tatilani, and Roscoe's) as well as sandwiches from Fred Meyer and Carrs.
 
Vaccines from Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna are expected to be available. Food, snacks, and drinks available while supplies last. Please park in the lot to the north by the Muldoon Library.

Healthy Futures Kids Mile  
7:00pm at Kincaid Park
Thursday, June 17

Anchorage Museum Free Admission Day: Juneteenth at the Museum

Saturday, June 19
Juneteenth commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States. Visit Black Lives in Alaska: Journey, Justice, Joy, an exhibition presenting the Black experience in Alaska.
 
Downtown Summer Solstice Festival

at Town Square Park, Peratrovich Park, E Street between 4th & 5th Ave, G Street between 3rd & 5th Ave, and Mayor’s Lot.
This family-friendly event hosts a variety of entertainment, live music, dance, kids’ activities, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament, a sober garden by Recover Alaska, beer gardens and much more.

Spenard Community Recreation Center
Free. Learn new skills and give back to the community by improving local parks. Ages 12-16. Call 343-4130 to register.
