States United to Prevent Gun Violence

Dear John,

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

I want to share some important facts in honor of this month:

  • Men own more than 60% of the guns in the United States.
  • Access to firearms dramatically increases the risk a woman will be murdered by her intimate partner.
  • Access to firearms also increases the risk that someone will menace a family member—including children—with a gun.

Our grassroots state leaders know that domestic violence is deadly serious because they know this equation by heart:

Domestic Violence + Guns = Deadly

Our state gun violence prevention leaders work every day to solve that equation.

You can make change happen now by supporting their work to keep our states, our communities, and our homes safer.

Thanks for all you do,

Karen Abrams
