That's how Joe Biden commemorated Memorial Day at Arlington National Cemetery, with a reminder that our democracy is fragile and we need to work to protect it every day.
On January 6, you saw insurrectionists tear down the American flag and replace it with a Trump 2020 flag. A month later, we saw Republicans acquit Donald Trump and celebrate him as the future of the GOP. Lawmakers in Washington still have to walk through metal detectors to legislate, but that didn't stop Republicans from blocking bipartisan legislation to establish a January 6 commission.
As Biden noted, the biggest question now is whether democracy can win out over opposing “powerful forces.”
You know as well as we do that the GOP doesn't care about preserving our democracy. They care about staying in power at any cost.
