# [#] John,
Carolyn fights for equal pay every single day. From her tenure on the City Council to her current leadership on the House Oversight Committee, she’s worked to end gender discrimination everywhere.
But much remains to be done. The truth is that to this day , women make less than men, earning on average 82 cents for every dollar a man makes. And pay disparity is larger for women of color.
Today, Congress has a real opportunity to do so with the Paycheck Fairness Act, which will strengthen the Equal Pay Act of 1963 and provide financial stability for women. Click here to tell the Senate that it’s time we end discrimination with this bill: [[link removed]]

Closing the gender pay gap is a moral imperative. It’s also an economic imperative: over a lifetime, the pay gap functions as a wealth tax, costing women and working families many thousands of dollars in earnings. We can secure protections for women who are harmed by the injustice of wage discrimination, but only if the Senate acts now.
Carolyn knows when to act — and that time is now.
Please, sign on to demonstrate that you’re in this fight. [[link removed]]
Thank you for all you do.
