John -
This may be the first time you've seen my name in your inbox in a while. That's because I have some exciting, personal news to share with you:
Four months ago, my husband and I welcomed our first child into our family and onto this amazing planet that you, me, and thousands of people around the globe are fighting to protect.
So as I sit here writing this email, looking at the post-it notes on my computer and my 10-page-long to-do list, I am reinvigorated. Seriously! I am ready to organize. I am ready to go toe-to-toe with the most corrupt and dangerous industry on the planet. I am ready to fight.
If you are ready to fight too, please consider making a contribution today. I'll be following up personally with everyone who donates to this email to say thank you.

I know that we send a lot of emails. And I know that in many of those emails, we often ask you to make anothera donation to support our work to build a global climate movement. But the truth is that your support is precisely what allows us to organize on every continent and why I feel hopeful that we can pull off unprecedented campaigns to defeat the fossil fuel industry.
If you aren't able to make a donation today, or if it doesn't work for you or your family, I hope you will continue reading on and that you will engage with our work in whatever ways work best for you. Your involvement in the fight to stop the climate crisis right now is more important than ever before.
Here's the story:
When I left 350 for my leave, I was down-hearted about the very short amount of time we have left to secure a healthy and habitable planet for future generations.
This is very hard work, and it's all of our work. It is not just about 350. It is about how communities tie themselves together in the face of increasingly repressive threats and climate chaos all over the world.
I am absolutely thrilled by the HUGE gains in the past four months. Since I've been on leave, a Dutch court ruled that Shell must reduce its net carbon dioxide emissions 45% by 2030 (with 2019 as a baseline). This decision sends a strong message to fossil fuel companies, banks, and pension funds all over the world that greenwashing and lies will not prevent them from being held accountable for the climate crisis.
Here in the US, Chevron shareholders voted against the oil company's board to force the company to cut its emissions, and two climate activists were elected to ExxonMobil's board.
And on May 18, 2021, the International Energy Agency joined the choir and said what campaigners and activists have been saying for years: we have to get off fossil fuels NOW and leapfrog development across the globe towards a renewable energy powered future. Absolutely amazing.
I have to tell you, I feel a deep sense of hope and inspiration about our movement. I'm hungry to build a better future for generations to come.
If you're also hungry to take down the fossil fuel industry — can you please make a contribution in response to this email — or any amount you can — to support the amazing campaigns we are kicking off this summer?

This has been my favorite week I've ever had in my years at 350. Maybe it's being a new mom and having a new perspective; maybe it's having been inspired from afar by your work (I watched many of the Just Recovery Gathering videos with tears in my eyes), maybe it's 'absence makes the heart grow fonder.' All of that adds up to me being so honored to be here, in this role – loving this work and wanting to give my best self to it like never before.
Four months away helps one see just how much has happened for the good, and I can tell you — I've never felt more proud of where we are going. Thank you again for all you do. More soon.
In solidarity,
May Boeve
