John,

This week, we remember the anniversary of President John F. Kennedy signing the Equal Pay Act -- one of the first major steps toward ensuring women across the country are valued in the workplace.

But the reality is, it's 2021 and we're still fighting to ensure women are paid the same as their male colleagues.

Last year Kansas women only made 80 cents -- below the national average -- for every dollar their male coworkers did. But the national gap is even wider for women of color. Black women earned 63 cents. Native American women earned 60 cents. Latina women only earned 55 cents. And Asian American and Pacific Islander women only earned 52 cents.

As long as employers continue to underpay their female employees, we will continue to fight for equal pay. As long as women are undervalued for their work, we will continue to fight for equal pay. And as long as there is a huge racial pay gap among women, we will continue to fight for equal pay.

It's time for change. Add your name and join me in the fight for equal pay in the workplace.
