Our entire democracy is now at risk. That’s the stark warning in a new letter signed by over 100 scholars of democracy urging Congress to act save our democracy.[1]
Angered over Trump’s 2020 election loss, Far Right legislators in 48 states have introduced at least 389 bills that seek to restrict the right to vote – and several of them have already been signed into law in key states.
A vote on S.1, the For the People Act, a bill that would neutralize these state bills attacking our democracy, is imminent this month and we will be joining with allies to deliver hundreds of thousands of petition signatures from people like you to the Senate ON WEDNESDAY, urging them to pass the bill. With your help, hopefully we can get to half a million signatures!

The overwhelmingly popular For the People Act has already passed in the House of Representatives as H.R.1 and we can't let it get blocked by filibuster in the Senate by Mitch McConnell and the Far Right, who see voter suppression as their only path to political power.
In addition to protecting the freedom to vote, the For the People Act would block the gerrymandering -- another form of voter suppression -- that the Far Right also wants to use to take back control of Congress, it would rein in Big Money in politics and stop billionaires and corporate special interests from buying our elections, and it would strengthen ethics rules to defend against corruption.
These are the reforms that will bring our democracy back from life support and strengthen it for generations to come.
We cannot become complacent at such a pivotal time in our nation’s history. President Biden recently said he's ready to use every tool at his disposal to help move this bill ... and with every new state legislative attack on the right to vote and the fairness of our elections, the national grassroots groundswell grows for passage of the For the People Act. It's time for ALL of us to act NOW to save our democracy.
