Friend,
I worked for years to help finally pass the Equality Act through the House in February.
It's now Pride Month, yet our bill to ban discrimination on the basis of sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation is
still sitting in the Senate and, according to the Daily Beast, it's "a likely casualty of the Senate filibuster."
But it's not only the filibuster. Dark money billionaires like Betsy DeVos and others associated with the far right are pumping money into killing the Equality Act.
This Pride Month, we need to go beyond words. We have the power to take action to protect our LGBTQ+ neighbors, and we can't allow political games to stop us.
Add your name here to join me in demanding that the Senate stop delaying and pass the popular Equality Act!
After four years of Donald Trump attacking vulnerable communities for political gain and a Republican party that has abandoned democracy and all moral values to pledge allegiance to the former president, we can't afford to wait to pass the Equality Act.
Allowing critical legislation to die in the Senate because of the filibuster is dangerous and on the wrong side of history.
Will you join me in asking all Senators to stop delaying and pass the Equality Act?
As we celebrate Pride Month and honor the history, legacy and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community, we should celebrate the progress that was made but recognize how much further there is to go.
Onward,
Jerry
