John —
This weekend, Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia threatened to vote No on the For the People Act – not because he disagrees with it, but over frivolous concerns about the process.
Senator Manchin should not hold the fate of our democracy hostage because of process. We have to show Manchin that his entire state is demanding a Yes vote – so we’re buying dozens of huge billboards in all the cities Senator Manchin has an office, just in time for when he comes home for Independence Day.
To pay for the billboards, we need to raise $15,000 by MIDNIGHT this Saturday, June 12. Will you rush us $25 right now to ensure we can get these billboards up in West Virginia before Senator Manchin returns home for July 4th?
RepresentUs members have made thousands of phone calls, showed up in the streets, and spread the word far and wide about the need to pass the For the People Act and reduce the outsized influence of billionaires and special interests in Washington.
It's unconscionable for Senator Manchin to prioritize political procedures over saving American democracy. We need to show the Senator that passing this bill is more important than his trivial political calculations. And what better way to send a message to Senator Manchin than by plastering the skyline in his own backyard?
The Senator can preach about process concerns all he wants. But the bottom line is that he’s ignoring his own constituents, threatening to block an overwhelmingly popular bill to appease some hyper-partisan Senators.
These billboards will remind Senator Manchin who he works for, and that his vote isn't just political – it's about the fate of our republic.
This project will only be possible if we can front the $15,000 we need before midnight on Saturday. Will you chip in $25 right now to fund these billboards before Senator Manchin heads back to West Virginia?
Thank you for everything you do,
