POLL: Susan Wright Holds Commanding Lead Over Jake Ellzey

Arlington, TX — A survey taken June 1-3 in the special election runoff for Texas' 6th Congressional District shows Susan Wright (R) surging to a 29 point edge among Republicans over State Representative Jake Ellzey (R). Overall, with Democrats and independents included, Wright leads by 15 points -- 49% to 34%.
"Among Republicans, Wright holds a dominant 66%-27% lead," said Randall Gutermuth, Wright campaign pollster. "This should be even more important given that Republicans will likely make up a disproportionate portion of the electorate with no Democrat having made the runoff. The one voting bloc favoring Ellzey are Democrats (18%-49%), but they will likely make up a very small portion of the electorate."
"Wright leads 61%-28% among those with a favorable impression of Trump," Gutermuth continued. "The former President’s ratings remain extremely strong with Republicans (88% favorable, 9% unfavorable)." Wright was endorsed by President Trump less than a week before the May 1st election.
"Ellzey is not benefiting from former Governor Perry’s endorsement at this point," Gutermuth added, "as Wright leads 60%-30% among those with a favorable impression of Perry."
"From siding with Democrats in the legislature by voting for tax hikes and against pro-life bills, to taking money from Never Trumpers, to flip-flopping back-and-forth on amnesty, State Representative Jake Ellzey has picked up a bunch of support from Democrats, but he's cratered among the Republicans that are going to vote in this runoff," said Matt Langston, Wright campaign Chief Strategist.
"We’re overjoyed by the overwhelmingly positive response Susan continues to receive from voters across TX-06," Langston continued. "Susan's tireless work ethic, ability to connect with the electorate, conservative bonafides, and the endorsement of President Trump has us in a commanding lead and likely to win the July 27th runoff over RINO Jake Ellzey."
