John -- Happy Pride!

As more folks get vaccinated, this Pride Month is already set to be a BIG one, and I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Pride.

Philadelphia is home to a diverse queer community, and June is our chance to celebrate and lift up our LGBTQIA+ friends and neighbors. This is also the time to reflect on how far we've come and recommit ourselves to the fight for full, lived equality.

Queer and transgender people of color have been leading the movement for equality and justice for decades. We need to recognize the bold sacrifices made to secure non-discrimination protections, access to marriage and adoption services, and hate crime legislation.

We need to remember that their fight is our fight, too.

2021 has been the worst year for anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation in recent history, and it's fueling the flames of hate and emboldening extremists. Our nation truly isn't free until we're ALL free, and it's why I am standing in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ Americans, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the AAPI community.

We must continue resisting hate and working together to make our shared vision of justice for all a lived reality.
