The G7 leaders' summit, taking place at the end of this week, has been all over the news. Debt cancellation amid the pandemic is one of the best ways for poor countries to deal with the crisis.

It's crucial that we get debt as high up the agenda as possible. Are you able to chip in to help us get the message heard?

Hi friend,

The sunny town of Carbis Bay in Cornwall will be hosting the G7 leaders' summit next week. Leaders from some of the most powerful countries, including United States President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be there.

We wanted to make sure our message about debt cancellation will be in the mouths of all the people attending. Literally. So we've decided to make some very special versions of everyone’s favourite seaside treat to hand out, a stick of rock.  
We’ll be handing out as many sticks of rock as possible to people attending the G7 to make sure our message gets across, but to do that, we need to raise the funds to make it happen.  

Help us make sure the G7 gets the message about how important debt cancellation is by sponsoring a stick with our ‘cancel the debt’ message on it.  


Every £13 can get us 10 sticks of rock

We know this is a light-hearted way to get our issue noticed, though the urgent need for debt cancellation is anything but. Many lower income countries are crying out for debt justice so they can fight covid.  

Africa is spending three times more on debt repayments to banks and speculators than it would cost to vaccinate the entire continent. It’s so crucial we make sure those with the power to cancel debts act. That’s why we’ve got to get the word out at the G7. 

Any funds left over will go to our campaigning work for the rest of the year, so please do chip in.
