Friends,

I am honored to represent such a dynamic and diverse LGBTQIA+ population -- especially this month.

In recent years, we've begun to tell the true story of the first Pride -- a protest against discrimination, bigotry, and police brutality. I want to make sure we don't stop telling that story or carrying on the legacy of the Black and brown activists who stood so boldly against hate.

LGBTQIA+ Coloradans still face visible discrimination, violence, hatred, and invisible barriers to full equality today -- especially those who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) transgender women. Just this year, dozens of homophobic and transphobic laws have been passed through various state legislatures across the country.

The repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell in 2012 and the long journey to make marriage equality the law of the land in 2015 prove that progress is necessary, but not guaranteed. It's on all of us to keep pushing until there is full equality for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

We are a strong nation when we have full rights and inclusion for all of our citizens -- in employment, education, health care, military, everyday life -- everywhere. I won't stop working to affirm and uplift the LGBTQIA+ community, and invite you to be a part of this work, as well.

This Pride month, recommit to the fight for full and unabridged equal rights for the LGBTQIA+ community. Add your name now >>
