While Governor Whitmer is working night and day to help Michigan’s economy recover from the pandemic, Senate Republican leadership was busy ramming through a needless bill requiring legislative leaders to be informed of the Governor’s location.

This bill comes just months after Sen. Tom Barrett, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, and then-House Speaker Lee Chatfield traveled to Washington DC to meet with Trump, willingly enabling the former president’s baseless claim that the election was stolen from him.

Let’s be clear here: Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and his buddies in the legislature are trying to obstruct the good work Governor Whitmer is doing to help our state’s economy and small businesses recover in favor of passing a paternalistic bill that would force the Governor to spend more time reporting to them.
