Help Mayor Cantrell improve access to transportation in your neighborhood.
When she first took office, Mayor Cantrell established the first-ever Mayor's Office of Transportation to address the needs of New Orleans residents with regards to infrastructure and public transportation. Under her leadership, New Orleans has seen huge improvements in the quality and efficiency of transportation, including hundreds of completed infrastructure projects across the city.
Now, she's embarking on an even more ambitious transportation project: creating a comprehensive Transit Oriented Communities Plan. That means setting neighborhoods up for success by ensuring affordable access to convenient and efficient transportation.
This plan will:
- Cultivate Active, Vibrant, and Sustainable Communities through enhanced design standards.
- Encourage Transit Ridership by increasing safety, accessibility, and activity around transit stops and reducing space devoted to private vehicles.
- Prioritize Equitable Development that incentivizes affordable housing close to public transit and employment.
- Attract, Retain, and Grow Business Opportunities within Transit Oriented Communities and corridors.
- Allow Density & Mixed-Use Development that includes housing, retail, and offices within walking distance to transit stops.
In order to develop that plan, Mayor Cantrell wants your input. Take this survey to tell her about transit in your community. Transportation in New Orleans has already taken huge strides under Mayor Cantrell. You can be a part of the next step.
