Voting rights have never been about partisanship.

The For the People Act would make voting easier, more accessible, and help thwart corporate influence in elections— but corporate Democrat Joe Manchin is voting against it. Will you help us build our movement so we can retire corporate Democrats who will vote against the interests of Americans?

Retire Corporate Democrats

John,

Senator Joe Manchin announced that he will be voting against the For the People Act, legislation that would transform our democracy by making it fairer, stronger, and more inclusive by strengthening voting rights protections and removing corporate influence from elections. Manchin claims that protecting the right to vote shouldn’t be about politics, but voter suppression is a common Republican electoral strategy.

The For the People Act would stop the avalanche of voter suppression legislation that would undermine the electoral process and disenfranchise voters, primarily in Black and brown communities. But, Senator Manchin is putting bipartisan process ahead of the outcome of voting rights. When he says that the For the People Act doesn’t have bipartisan support, he isn’t talking about the 2/3rd of voters that support it. He is referring to the right-wing politicians and corporations fighting against the right of Americans to make their voice heard.

Justice Democrats are standing up in Congress to protect voting rights, expand access to the ballot box, and stop corporate influence in elections. If you believe that corporations and political interests shouldn’t dictate voting rights legislation — will you stand with us and make a contribution right now?

Senator Manchin has said that he won’t vote to end the filibuster, a Senate procedure that is a relic of the Jim Crow era and has consistently overridden the will of the American people. Our ability to transform our politics and deliver meaningful change to working people is threatened by the filibuster and corporate Democrats like Joe Manchin.

If you’re with us in this fight, can you please make a $3 donation to power our advocacy against the racist filibuster and towards electing leaders who will stand up for working people? Your support ensures we can continue growing our progressive movement.

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
