Dear Friend, The last year and a half have been incredibly challenging. As we come out of COVID, it's important to remember and acknowledge those that helped pave the way for our community's resiliency and political empowerment. AAI's Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Leadership Summit is designed for just that and we are proud to announce that it will include a special award for a very special leader. The Reverend Jesse Jackson included Arab Americans and the issues we care about in his earliest political campaigns. He elevated Arab American political participation at a time when others sought to exclude us. It is fitting that we honor Reverend Jackson with a Gibran Lifetime Achievement award, not only for what he has done for Arab Americans but for his lifelong commitment to elevating the rights and well-being of those who have been marginalized. Reverend Jackson will accept this award on Sunday, June 27 during AAI's online Spirit of Humanity Leadership Summit. The award will be presented by another extraordinary leader who is also a friend to our community, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison. Attorney General Ellison, as many of you know, has also made it his life's work to advance the rights and well-being of others. AAI's Kahlil Gibran Spirit of Humanity Leadership Summit programming is designed to bring us together in conversation and elevate Arab American leadership, and this event will be no different. I ask you to join us in these conversations which begin tomorrow, Tuesday with Congresswoman Betty McCollum. Of course, if you sign up, you get access to the entire summit! - including Dr. Rashid Khalidi on Palestine, Rami Khouri on the current crisis in Lebanon, and Dr. Cornel West on race and democracy. I hope you join us and share these events with those who care about justice, and human rights. Best, Jim Purchase your ticket here with a donation of $60.00 for the entire series.Schedule of Events Tuesday, June 8 Advocating for Human Rights & Accountability in Congress Featuring Representative Betty McCollum
