Here’s the truth, John — For years, the filibuster has been used as a tool of obstruction, and if elected to the U.S. Senate, I will stand behind getting rid of it. If you’re on board and agree the filibuster needs to go so we can get things done for Pennsylvania, please chip in any amount to our campaign here ([link removed]). If you want to hear a little more about why the filibuster is so harmful to our country, Commonwealth, and democracy before donating, keep reading:

We’ve seen Republican obstruction become the standard in the Senate — and the filibuster is one of the most harmful, and powerful, tools Mitch McConnell has at his disposal to block legislation that would transform the lives of workers and families for the better.

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve made great progress through bold legislation like the American Rescue Plan, which has aided our country’s recovery from the pandemic. But Senate Democrats were only able to pass it through a Senate procedure that only applies to a limited amount of bills. So, we can’t count on that maneuver to help move President Biden’s agenda through the Senate.

With such a narrow Democratic majority, the filibuster’s 60-vote requirement to end debate on legislation and move it to a vote will make it extremely difficult to push through the sweeping policies this moment requires — the American Jobs Plan, the For the People Act, and raising the minimum wage. These are policies that will help workers and families, yet Republicans are dead-set on stopping them.

They even used the filibuster to block bipartisan legislation to investigate the deadly January 6th Capitol insurrection and hold those involved accountable. It’s unbelievable.

From raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour and strengthening workers’ rights, to making our health care system more affordable and accessible, it will be an uphill battle to bring about the progress our Commonwealth and country deserve if we keep the filibuster in place.

I believe in solving tough problems — that’s why I’m running for the U.S. Senate. So if you agree that we must get rid of the filibuster, I hope you’ll support my campaign today so I can get to work in the U.S. Senate to abolish the filibuster and pass policies that lift up workers and families.

Will you make a donation of $5 or whatever you can give to help send me to Washington to fight for our shared values? [link removed]

Thanks for speaking out for our country, Commonwealth, and democracy.
