COVID Updates
As of May 28th, capacity and social distancing restrictions have been lifted in the Commonwealth. In addition, the mask mandate has been lifted, although unvaccinated individuals are still strongly encouraged to wear a mask.
The numbers don't lie, and the COVID situation here in Virginia is incredibly encouraging. Statewide, Virginia only reported 155 cases yesterday, and the percent positivity rate of PCR tests is only 2.5%. Yesterday, Loudoun reported only 3 new COVID cases, and Prince William reported only 11. We can thank vaccines for this. If you have not yet gotten your vaccine, it's still important to do so even with these low numbers. Visit vaccinate.virginia.gov to get a list of vaccination sites and pharmacies where you can get your shot. Shots are plentiful and most locations now accept walk-ins. The COVID vaccine is completely free of charge.
Here in Virginia and in the US, we are incredibly fortunate to be nearing the end of this terrible pandemic that has already claimed almost 600,000 lives in the U.S. alone. However, our friends and family in other countries are dealing with a much different situation. We have a large Indian community here in the 13th District, and so many of our friends and neighbors have experienced devastating losses of loved ones during the catastrophic COVID surge in India in recent weeks. If you would like to help, please see this article for a list of organizations that are doing great work to help India right now.
