John — The European Space Agency recently reported that the world's largest iceberg has broken off from Antarctica. The iceberg is 1,667-square-miles, more than three times the size of Los Angeles.
This is big, literally.
Almost 90% of the glacial area in the world is in Antarctica, which is crucial to our climate. The bright white spots act like a protective cover over the Earth and our oceans, reflecting excess heat back into space to keep the planet cooler. But because of our greenhouse gas pollution, our glaciers are rapidly melting, which only further speeds up dangerous warming of our earth.
We need legislation that combats climate change and protects our planet. Will you chip in today to help elect more SEEC members who will fight for climate policies in Congress? [[link removed]]

The rapid melting causes less heat to be repelled back into space and results in warmer poles. That in turn causes even greater melting which results in less sea ice that animals like polar bears and walruses rely on for their habitat.
The consequences of polar melting don’t just impact animals, they directly harm humans. Melting glaciers change ocean currents by introducing cold water to warmer oceans. This changes the habitats of countless animals and has been linked to the collapse of fisheries in places like the Gulf of Maine.
And it results in accelerated warming that puts our whole planet at greater risk of the dangers we are already seeing – fires, storm surges, drought and other destabilizing forces that put our communities at risk.
We’re becoming used to constant news showing greater disasters around the world, rising temperatures in every region, and record-breaking glacial collapse. Our scientists have been telling us for years that we need to act now to avoid devastating consequences.
Will you contribute today so we can elect more SEEC members to Congress who will work to fight for the climate policies we need to make a difference now? We can work together to save our planet. [[link removed]]
