Now imagine if we had a zero-emission transit policy with zero-emission bus fleets across the country. The impact would be felt worldwide.
The best part about it, we don’t have to wait. With President Biden's American Jobs Plan and Secretary Pete Buttigeig's leadership, we have an unprecedented opportunity to get it done. Congress just needs to act.
That’s why we’re standing with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, Friends of the Earth, and other allies to join the National Campaign for Transit Justice in calling on Congress to fully fund a zero emission transit policy, including zero emission buses, immediately.
Our planet is warming -- creating wildfires in the west, hurricanes in the Atlantic and Gulf Coast, rising sea levels, and weather events at a scale never seen in our lifetime.
Reinventing public transit infrastructure is the key to fighting the global climate crisis and successfully tackling climate change in America.
Since the biggest source of transportation emissions comes from driving, you’d think electric cars are the answer. That’s part of the solution, but that won’t do it alone. There’s no way to electrify enough cars nationwide fast enough to prevent the devastating outcomes of climate change.
So we can’t just think bigger. We have to be smarter.
That’s why investing in a future driven by a zero emission transit policy is so crucial. It’s not hard to imagine the impact of making zero emission bus fleets mandatory nationwide, when you consider Americans are making almost 5 billion trips by bus a year.
With President Biden’s American Jobs Plan earmarking $85 billion for transit, there’s never been a better time for Congress to hear from you. Join the National Campaign for Transit Justice and our allies in calling for fully funding a zero emission transit policy with zero emission bus fleets nationwide now.
If we’re going to stop catastrophic climate change before it’s too late, we have to take it on anywhere and everywhere we can.
