This summer will be a defining one for our democracy, as Congress takes up historic bills to protect voting rights and improve the safety and transparency of our electoral systems.
In addition to this critical legislative work, I'm committed to strengthening our democracy in all areas. That includes ensuring that young people are engaged politically. So I'm excited to let you know about Democracy Summer.
Democracy Summer was developed by my colleague Jamie Raskin to train the next generation of political activists, organizers, and leaders. Participating candidates like myself will be recruiting high school and college students to help with our campaigns this summer.
Throughout their campaign work, these students will assist with phone-banking, text-banking, canvassing, fundraising, voter registration, and using social media to organize and educate voters. They'll also learn from great activist heroes, both young and veteran political leaders, policy experts, and top political and community organizers across the country.
I can't wait to work with the next generation of political organizers -- but I'll need your help to fund our Democracy Summer program, so that we can recruit the students and give them the resources they need to succeed.
