John,
As New York City recovers from the pandemic, voters will go to the polls starting next week in the most consequential mayoral race in a generation. But the results will resonate far beyond the borders of one city.
Billionaires and corporate special interests have already chosen their candidates in this race who will defend the status quo. With so much on the line, it’s time for working people to come together to fight for progressive change. That's why yesterday, I was proud to welcome Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Jamaal Bowman, and progressives from across New York in joining WFP’s endorsement of Maya Wiley for mayor of NYC!
Maya is facing a critical fundraising deadline this Monday June 7th, and it’s the last chance for NYC residents to have their grassroots donations matched 8-to-1 by the city’s public financing system. Can you chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to her grassroots campaign today?

Maya Wiley is the clear choice to lead NYC in such a historic moment. She grew up in the movement, and she knows exactly what it means to listen to and be accountable to working people.
She is the progressive candidate in this race who has what it takes to win — and electing her mayor is how we will ensure a just and inclusive recovery from the pandemic. But billionaires and Wall Street donors have been flooding this race to try and defend the status quo. Now's the time for the rest of us to step up too.
To join us in supporting Maya for Mayor, chip in $5 or whatever you can afford to her campaign before her deadline tomorrow. If you are an NYC resident, your qualifying grassroots donations will be matched 8-to-1.
Maya doesn’t just have the vision for a more equitable city. She has the plans to get us there. She’s determined to tackle important issues like holding police accountable, expanding affordable housing, and strengthening our public schools. We can count on Maya to work side-by-side with our communities to chart an inclusive pandemic recovery.
We're proud to back her and are ready to see her take the reins as NYC’s first-ever Black woman Mayor. But we know that big change doesn't happen alone. She needs our support.
To build a city and a nation that is of, by, and for working people, we need to join together to help candidates like Maya win. Please join us in supporting Maya Wiley's grassroots campaign before Monday’s deadline.
Onward,
Sochie Nnaemeka
