John,
Did you know more than 2 million people left a job, lost a job, or did not look for work because child care was not available? But that hasn't stopped 25 Governors from announcing they will cut federal jobless benefits.
CHN is fighting to ensure those who are out of work continue to receive the support and aid they desperately need. Read Deborah’s email and then donate $5 today to demand that all people, regardless of what state they live in, can obtain federal unemployment benefits to support themselves and their families.
Thank you,

--DEBORAH'S EMAIL--
John,
Twenty-five states are cutting jobless benefits as we are trying to fight our way out of this terrible pandemic recession, even though Congress funded them through September. That is nothing short of cruelty to tens of millions of people across the country who are struggling to put food on the table for themselves and their families.
Take a look this week's headline from Business Insider:1
We’re fighting to ensure federal jobless benefits remain available to all of those in need, regardless of what state they live in. Donate to CHN today to fight back against these unnecessary cruel cuts.
COVID continues to take a toll, disproportionately among Black, Latino and Indigenous people. Many families continue to struggle to obtain child care, making returning to the workforce even more of a challenge, and especially tough on women. In fact, CHN estimates 2.4 million people left a job, lost a job, or did not look for work because child care was not available.
People are still hurting. More than one-quarter, nearly 62 million people, are in households having serious trouble paying their regular bills. Hardship is even higher in Black and Latino households.
Despite this reality for tens of millions of people, 25 Republican governors are moving forward with plans to stop people in their states from receiving $300/week in federal benefits (and end all assistance if people are gig or self-employed workers).
The U.S. needs more federal protections and investments, to create good jobs, provide child care, and lift children and families out of poverty. Donate to CHN to fight for federal protections to ensure millions of people are not cut off from their $300/week jobless benefits, no matter where they live.

Economic conditions are improving. But there is still not a job for everyone who wants one―or adequate and affordable child care to allow all parents to return to work. If unemployed people lose their benefits earlier than Congress intended, our families and our economy will suffer―disproportionately hurting Black and brown people.
Thank you for all you do to fight for a future that includes all of us, not just the wealthy few.
