Fall is officially upon us, team! Now is the time for transformation, change, and lots of Halloween candy. Let me tell you, Nathan is so excited for his costume (I won’t give it away just yet — you’ll have to tune into newsletter next month to see the final product!), and I can’t wait to see what creative costume ideas the kids and parents of GA-7 come up with.
But October is about more than just trick-or-treating — it’s also when our campaign really ramps up. Now that we’re just a little more than a year away from the election, we’re focused on spreading our message across GA-7.
I also want to extend a sincere thank you to all of our supporters. With your help, we closed the gap in 2018 and came with 433 votes of flipping GA-7 blue. Now, thanks yet again to your generosity, we exceeded our FEC goal last month, and we’re more confident than ever that
this grassroots team has what it takes to flip our district in 2020. I couldn’t be more grateful to have you on the team.

We had the pleasure of touring the Clarkston Community Health Center and learning from Dr. Saeed Raees and Dr. Gulshan Harjee about their great work in the community. We must fight to make sure communities in GA-7 and across the country have access to affordable health care!
During last month’s Climate Strike, my 13 year-old niece, Stella, took over my Twitter account to talk about what climate change means to future generations of Americans and call on GA-7 to fight for action!
Seeing awesome candidates running races in Forsyth County is inspiring and tasting all the chili at the Connect the Dots cookoff was a delicious part of running for Congress!
I participated in the Gwinnett Democratic Women’s Candidate forum – I was inspired to see so many folks engaged on a Saturday morning in their democracy – we had questions from Climate Change to health care and many important issues in between.
See some new faces?
You’ve heard from Shelbi, my campaign manager, but I’m so excited to introduce you to the rest of my staff: Caitlin, Amira, and Jordan. We’ve had a fun few months and you’ll be hearing from them more if you haven’t already.
Caitlin was born in San Diego, raised in Forsyth County, and has worked on 4 campaigns here in Georgia. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia's School of Public and International Affairs where she participated in Mock Trial, various honor societies, and the occasional Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Caitlin is a nationally certified archery instructor and has an encyclopedic knowledge of the X-Files. |

Amira Daugherty is a Stone Mountain native who wants to see Georgia turn blue by 2020. Amira recently won Georgia’s PBS Celebration of Music Competition- and will head to compete in the finals soon.
An Agnes Scott College and Georgia State University graduate, she is enthused by leaders who plan to invest in Georgia's higher education. |

Jordan Chapman has lived in Atlanta for most of her life and just graduated from Emory University where she studied International Relations and Art History. She also is a big Atlanta United fan and naturally likes to win, so Jordan tried to beat my fundraising last week – and it looks like I may owe her a coffee. |

Last month we asked you about one of the most pressing issues of our time: climate change. We heard from so many supporters about the action they’d like to see to address this crisis — here’s a sampling of what’s important to you!

After multiple whistleblower reports about the president’s inappropriate conversations with the president of Ukraine on an official phone call, inviting foreign influence into the American election process, it’s clear that Congress must begin formal impeachment proceedings. We must defend our constitution and hold the president accountable for his abuses of power.
If you agree, I want to hear from you! Show your support here.

Atlanta Journal Constitution reported on my support for an official impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump’s misconduct. As a professor of ethics in government and as an American, I’m committed to protecting our democracy and standing up for the rule of law.
