As Durham approaches the start of its new fiscal year, our city and county leaders are hard at work developing the municipal budgets. These budgets are incredibly important for ensuring that our community's spending aligns with our shared progressive values. This year, the People's Alliance's action teams have diligently advocated to our elected officials around our priorities. After our elected leaders released their draft budgets, we went back to analyze where the city and county's proposed budgets aligns with these priorities and where they fall short.

Our elected officials need to hear from you. We urge you to write to the City Council and County Commission to share your thoughts on the proposed budgets. They are being finalized in the coming days, so time is of the essence. We know from experience that your advocacy can make a difference.
