Dear John,
In states all across the country, voting rights are under attack. For this reason, federal reform to protect access to the ballot box is critically important.
Later this month, the Senate plans to bring the For the People Act (S.1) to the floor for a vote. This transformative piece of legislation can protect voting rights, end gerrymandering, and push back against the influence of big money in politics.
On Wednesday, June 9th from 10am-12pm many good government organizations — led by Declaration for American Democracy ([link removed]) (DFAD) — will be rallying at the Supreme Court in support of S.1 and calling on Mitch McConnell and others in Congress to stop their obstruction of this vitally-important bill to repair our democracy.
* WHEN: Wednesday, June 9th (10am-12pm)
* WHERE: 1 First St NE, Washington, DC (Supreme Court, across from the Capitol Building)
* RSVP for this event and share it with your friends here ([link removed]) .
Members of Congress, including Senators Warren, Warnock, and Klobuchar, coalition leaders, activists, and members of the media will participate in the rally. In addition to speeches, DFAD will deliver hundreds of thousands of signatures of concerned Americans who support the For the People Act. There will also be a number of creative visuals to share across social media, including a 50' scroll featuring some of the petition signers. For updates, please visit DFAD's Twitter feed ([link removed]) .
We hope you will join us in DC this Wednesday and make sure your voice is heard.
Signed,
Scott Harshbarger,
Chairman, Lawyers Defending American Democracy
