Hey there,
We hope you heard the exciting news. Last night, Steven Reed made history when the people of Montgomery, Alabama, elected him as the city’s first Black mayor!
Montgomery was the birthplace of the civil rights movement, so it’s only fitting that in this political climate, we have a true leader in office to move Montgomery forward. But that’s not the only announcement we have for today.
We also want to congratulate Mayor Timothy Ragland, who was elected the first Black mayor of Talladega, Alabama.
Join us as we send a congratulatory card to Mayor Reed and Mayor Ragland. Sign your name today to help us celebrate these two history-making moments.

The race to 2020 couldn’t have been kicked off in a better way. Electing not one but two Black mayors on the same night in a Southern state shows that Black voters are making their voices heard and the tides are turning to build up the next Black wave.
It’s important to celebrate every win and every step forward, because the road to 2020 will be challenging. But moments like these show that the work we do here is worth it. We are grateful to you for being a part of this grassroots team.
Make sure you get the chance to sign the card to congratulate Mayor Reed and Mayor Ragland before we send it over.
