John --
I wanted to make sure you saw my interview with Lawrence O'Donnell on MSNBC's The Last Word about the urgent need to eliminate radioactive waste from the now closed Nuclear Generating Station in San Onofre (SONGS).
You can watch the interview here, and if you're able, please chip in $3 to help support my work on this important issue.

Eight million people live within a 50-mile radius of San Onofre. My family and I live about 15 minutes from this plant. I've toured the facility, and I've seen firsthand the risks that are present. An accidental meltdown would cause permanent destruction of our environment, and ruin millions of lives.
Last year, I introduced The Spent Nuclear Fuel Solutions Research and Development Act to develop a program to remove radioactive waste deposits from San Onofre and eliminate this waste as quickly and safely as possible.
We'll be reintroducing that legislation this year. It's my hope that a bipartisan group of legislators -- and a wide range of other stakeholders -- will again support the legislation. There's no reason this issue should be a partisan one.
Take a moment to watch the interview, then chip in $3 to make sure we can continue the work to eliminate nuclear waste from San Onofre.
