Dear Progressive Reader,
Here at The Progressive we have some new and exciting things to tell you about—but nothing has changed in our 112-year-long commitment to provide what founder Robert M. La Follette called in 1909, “A publication that will not mince words or suppress facts, when public utterance demands plain talk.”
If you have visited our website recently (or looked at the picture of it on this page) you will see that we have just launched a new design. It is simpler, works well on mobile devices, and does a great job of showcasing the talent of all of our writers and the important issues they have chosen to cover. Please take a look around and tell us what you think. And while you are there, check out our online shop where you can donate to The Progressive and get a great book as a thank you gift, or pickup a copy of a recent back issue of our magazine to share with a friend. You can also get some great Progressive items like a facemask, a calendar, or a "Fighting Bob" Bobblehead!
Plus, our new June/July 2021 issue is out. Subscribers should be receiving their copies in the mail shortly. You can read some of the great content online here. In addition, we are partnering with Exact Editions to provide a new digital version of each issue. If you are a current print or digital subscriber, you can log-in here to get access to the new version (please feel free to contact us if you have questions). If you are not yet a subscriber, maybe now is a good time to sign-up?
Finally, we are also moving our office. Beginning in July, we will be in a new office space, together with another great community organization and not far from where we are currently located. In the meantime, you can reach us by mail at The Progressive, P.O. Box 1021, Madison, WI 53701, or through all the normal methods of email and phone.
All of these are new and exciting changes, but our commitment to you remains the same. For more daily updates, check out some of the great content posted this week on our new website: Tina Gerhardt brings news about actions opposing the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline project; Sarah Lahm writes about an innovative community program at a Minneapolis grocery store; Ed Rampell reviews a new film about a local newspaper in Iowa that has a wide reach; Annie Levin reports on a model for graduate student organizing in New York; and Sanket Jain chronicles the tragedy that is unfolding in India as COVID-19 continues to surge.
Keep reading, and we will keep bringing you important articles on these and other issues of our time.
Sincerely,
Norman Stockwell
Publisher
