I never thought I'd see a retired three-star general and former National Security Advisor advocating for a military coup in America, but that's exactly what Michael Flynn did this week at a conference for conspiracy theorists and QAnon devotees.  Worse yet, rather than being booed for these seditious and traitorous remarks, he was applauded.

Those who fetishize violent coups and civil war have always existed, but until now they haven't been cheered on and encouraged by national leaders, who are truly playing with fire.  It's disgusting and must stop immediately, before it's too late.

That's why I'm calling on the Pentagon to reverse course and immediately begin a full investigation into General Michael Flynn's remarks and involvement in movements advocating for the violent overthrow of our republic.  As a retired general, he is still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice -- and the Department of Defense should explore all options available to ensure this seditious behavior is taken seriously and ends here.

This may all sound alarmist, but I genuinely believe we ignore such rumblings at our peril.  Leaders ignored QAnon in its infancy, and now look what it has become.  Our government must take these threats to our nation seriously -- the Country First movement certainly does.

What should give us all hope, though, is that NO member of the United States military who takes his or her oath seriously would ever participate in these traitorous acts.  The military is one of the last institutions that still has broad bipartisan support, and we cannot allow seditionists like Michael Flynn to erode the trust our armed forces have earned and deserve.
