Since June of 2014, Immigrant Heritage Month has given people across the United States an opportunity to annually explore their own heritage and celebrate the shared diversity that forms the unique story of America. We’re so grateful that the White House has taken this important step forward to celebrate immigrant communities across the country.

Subject: The White House celebrates Immigrant Heritage Month!

Friend,

We’ve been celebrating immigrant families, communities, food, and love for eight years now, and this is a big deal: President Joe Biden just officially proclaimed June 2021 National Immigrant Heritage Month from the White House!

In the proclamation, President Biden acknowledged the contributions of immigrant communities to our nation, from those who came here centuries ago to those who have served on the front lines of the pandemic over the past year. And he urged Congress to prioritize a pathway to citizenship for the nearly 11 million people in this country who are undocumented.

This powerful statement is a major milestone! Will you share it with your friends and family so they can join in this celebration with us?

Let’s celebrate together, Friend! Join President Biden and countless others across the country in commemorating National Immigrant Heritage Month by sharing the White House proclamation today!

The United States has benefited from the immigrants and refugees who showed incredible courage to flee oppression, poverty, and persecution and travel to our shores in search of a better life for themselves and their families. That our nation has welcomed these immigrants has been an incredible source of strength — but we have often done so imperfectly. Far too often, they were treated as outsiders, demonized, and considered “less than” because of their own heritage.

Today’s immigrants come for many of the same reasons, and, unfortunately, they continue to be met with the same rhetoric and racial prejudice. Many of the policies that allowed our ancestors and their families to come, stay, and succeed in the United States are now closed off to future generations — which hurts all of us.

In light of this, it’s so encouraging to see the White House joining us in celebrating the history and achievements of immigrant communities who have contributed, and will continue to contribute, so much to our nation. Let’s take a moment to commemorate this moment!

Celebrate this momentous proclamation with us! Share this great news on social media today.
