Friend,
I need your help to bring in 200 donations by midnight tonight, but let me tell you why I want to raise this money and become your Congressman. secure.actblue.com/donate/2106-q2-dh?refcode=210605-email
Americans often don’t agree when it comes to government programs. But if there’s one thing most Americans agree on, it’s that Medicare is a good program that’s helped a lot of people. It gives our seniors insurance to cover health care costs at a time in their lives when they need it most and when major medical costs and extended hospital stays could wipe them out financially.
My family knows. Four years ago my Mom fell and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Brilliant work by paramedics, doctors, and nurses saved her life. It took months for her to recover. Thankfully, she did, and she did so without having to suffer the kind of devastating financial loss that strikes many people who don’t have adequate health insurance.
Dave and His Mother
Protecting people’s health and financial security are good things. But Andy Harris doesn’t think so. He voted to gut and practically destroy Medicare in 2011. And time and again he voted to overturn the ACA, which provides health insurance protection to people who might otherwise be uninsurable, protects all Americans from being denied insurance because of preexisting medical conditions, allows parents to cover their children on their insurance plans up to age 26, and lowers prescription drug costs for seniors. If you disagree with Andy Harris and believe the ACA is a critical health care program, please chip in to help me replace him.
Andy doesn’t seem to like programs that help people. He’s voted against the Violence Against Women Act. He voted against investing in infrastructure improvements that would provide long overdue fixes to roads, bridges, transportation networks, and voted against other critical systems that would create millions of jobs. He voted against providing better care for women veterans. He voted against investigating the causes of the riot at the Capitol that injured over 150 law enforcement officers.
The only thing Andy’s known for, it seems, is sneaking a gun into the Capitol and trying to overturn a lawful election. Otherwise, his record of voting “No” to every congressional action that would improve the lives of his constituents has well earned him the nickname, “Dr. No.”
I want to say “Yes” to helping the people of Maryland’s 1st District. I want to give them access to affordable health insurance and the kind of high quality health care that saved my mom. I want to create good-paying jobs, jobs that will last for decades and position our district to become a leader in the industries of tomorrow. I want to provide equal pay and equal opportunity for all. I want people who violently try to overturn government actions to be held accountable.
I think that’s what a member of Congress should do – what’s right for the people – and not whatever it is that Andy Harris thinks he’s doing. If you’re with me, please consider giving any amount you can afford to my campaign today.
Best,
Dave
