John, Earlier this week, I traveled to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other government leaders in the wake of the recent rocket attacks from Hamas. In the worst violence in over two years, our friends in Israel faced eleven days of escalating conflict before a cease fire was eventually agreed to in May. As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, I believe that Israel serves as the "eyes and ears" of the United States in this volatile region, and nobody does more to protect America from radical Islam than our friends in Israel. That's why I believe it's so important that the United States continues to stand strong with Israel against the radical Islamists of Hamas and the nuclear threat of the mullahs in Iran.
