Independent Women’s Forum is pleased to announce that Congresswoman Claudia Tenney of New York’s 22nd Congressional District is the latest entry in our popular series of Champion Women profiles ([link removed]) .

You may already know that Claudia Tenney’s race was the last in the 2020 election cycle to be certified—even though the outspoken conservative had a seemingly insurmountable lead when the polls closed election night.

After her experience with the 2020 election, when the count changed so many times that one political scientist compared the race to a ping pong match, Tenney launched the House Election Integrity Caucus. She wants every legal voter to vote and realize that the right to vote is sacred. Tenney believes that the number one issue for Democrats is changing the way Americans vote.

“If you watch any of their commentary,” she says, “you know that their number one initiative in Congress is not health care, or infrastructure, or any of those big topics they talk about. It’s about overhauling and politicizing elections and giving the federal government power over elections, which is not currently constitutional.”

While many people know about Tenney’s political career, and may even know that she is the daughter of a former New York state Supreme Court Justice, it is less well-known that she faced hard times as a single mother caring for ailing parents and running a business in a tough economy.

She is intensely proud of her son, Naval Academy graduate and Marine Captain Wayne “Trey” Cleary, III. “I think that struggle that my son had to go through with me, and he had to help me through it, is what made him a better person--made me a better person, too.”
