The Fresno County Democratic Party is proud to see the Fresno City Council affirm the dignity and value of Fresno’s LGBTQ+ community and recognize the contributions they have made by proclaiming June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in the City of Fresno and committing to flying the Rainbow Pride flag above City Hall. This simple act has the power to inspire hope and create a feeling of inclusion for Fresno’s queer and gender nonconforming communities that will be felt across Fresno County.

We applaud the City Council members for recognizing the need to support and honor the community in a time when anti-LGBTQ+ sentiments are again rearing their ugly head in our Central Valley and city by a small, yet loud and forceful minority.

The actions of the Fresno City Council and City of Fresno in affirming these contributions and the dignity of this often marginalized community with a proclamation of Pride Month and by raising the Rainbow flag will send a clear message to the citizens of Fresno, its youth and communities beyond that Fresno is transcending its own checkered past with its LGBTQ+ community. It says that Fresno is now an open and inclusive city that welcomes all with open arms and equal opportunity. Right now Fresno is on the right side of history and ready to begin a new and promising chapter.

Join CADEM Statewide Officers and Delegates to plan for the year ahead. From organizing against the Republican Recall, to preparing for the 2022 midterms, to the important work of advancing equity and justice within the party, there is much to be done — but we have hope that we will meet the moment.
There is nothing we can’t do when we come together as Democrats.

California democrats face the biggest threat in years from the GOP. The Republican National Committee, wealthy Trump donors and right-wing extremists have joined forces in an attempt to recall Governor Gavin Newsom.

The California Democratic Party (CADEM) is playing a critical grassroots organizing role in the anti-recall effort. As a part of the effort, CADEM will launch an organizing effort to Stop the Republican Recall on June 15 from 6 – 7 p.m. We’ll use this time to learn more about the recall effort against Governor Gavin Newsom and how we’ll work together over the next few months to fight back against the right-wing Republican recall attempt.

Our brothers and sisters at ILWU Local 6 need your support! Since May 4th, 42 members have been locked out of their job at Stratas Foods Inc., in south Fresno, after unanimously rejecting the company’s offer.

These warehouse workers have been working four, 12-hour shifts per week throughout the pandemic, packing, and shipping cooking oil for fast food chains and Costco. After being lowballed on wages for years, these workers decided enough was enough, and are standing their ground for a fair wage increase. Stratas Foods generates approximately $700M in annual revenue.

Sign the petition and demand Stratas Foods go back to the bargaining table and accept ILWU Local 6’s counteroffer to give these workers the fair pay they deserve!

Please also consider donating to their GoFundMe ([link removed]) to help warehouse workers until unemployment decides if and when their benefits start.
