Walk with us in Texas

Dear Advocates of Change,

Last week, we announced the Freedom Walks a 3-week campaign to inspire political power and mobilization in communities of all backgrounds leading to the 2020 elections! Following the example of the Freedom Riders, the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Anti-Defamation League, IGNITE, World Institute on Disability, Poder Latinx, and a growing list of organizations are organizing a vast network of local and national leaders to walk in solidarity across 14 different cities in eight states across the U.S. and the District of Columbia from October 15 to November 3, 2019.

The Freedom Walks will include: a one-mile march and a community gathering at the end-point with resource sharing to inform all participants and serve as a hub for civic engagement, including voter registration. The first walks will start on the U.S.-Mexico border city of Brownsville, Texas, and Corpus Christi, Texas, and end in Washington, D.C. on November 3, 2019--exactly one year before Election Day in 2020.

Join us for the first five walks in Texas where community leaders like yourself can share space and set the agenda on issues impacting your community from the separation of families, hate crimes, incarceration and criminalization, health care, climate change, education and many more issues that impact your everyday.

Brownsville, Texas (10/15)
Corpus Christi, Texas (10/15)
San Antonio, Texas (10/16)
Austin, Texas (10/17)
Dallas, Texas (10/18)
Houston, Texas (10/20)
