Pedro Gonzalez Joins Charlemagne Institute as Associate Editor

I’m excited to share that Pedro Gonzalez joined Charlemagne Institute, Chronicles magazine, and Intellectual Takeout as our newest Associate Editor!

You may recognize Pedro from his first-rate articles published in Chronicles as well as his frequent interviews with Tucker Carlson. Pedro is additionally published at American Greatness, the New York Post, and a variety of other websites, newspapers, and magazines.

Chronicles Editor-in-Chief Paul Gottfried had the following to share about Pedro:

It is with pride and happiness that we announce that Pedro Gonzalez is joining the Charlemagne Institute. He will serve as an associate editor for both Chronicles magazine and our webzine Intellectual Takeout.

Someone who has already distinguished himself at a young age as a defender of the American working class and of traditional conservative principles, Pedro will strengthen our efforts to reinvigorate our publication and to carry on the work of the traditional Right.

Pedro’s contributions to other publications and websites, most conspicuously American Greatness, testify to his significance as a voice for our side. He has been particularly forceful in exposing the role of the American ruling class in inflicting woke culture on this country and on the need for coalition-building in dealing with the elitist threat to our freedoms and inherited morality. We expect only great things from our new comrade in arms!

On the decision, Pedro himself wrote the message below to his fans and social media followers:

After three and a half years at American Greatness, I'm changing gears to join Chronicles full-time as associate editor!

I'm tremendously appreciative of the team and the space AG allowed me to write and grow. I've always straddled both worlds. I ended up carrying many of the ideas and arguments developed in Chronicles to AG, where they were well-received in the iconoclastic Trump era.

I hope to continue bridging gaps from my new post: I am both a Lincoln Fellow of the Claremont Institute and associate editor of Chronicles this year. If you know about the history of these organizations, then that sentence says something about a realignment today—a realignment around issues over ideology.

From the Buchanan era through now, Chronicles has been prescient and ultimately vindicated on every single salient issue from trade and immigration to interventionism. The year after neoconservatives labeled the magazine “unpatriotic” for opposing the Iraq War, Bill Buckley confessed that he too was an unpatriotic conservative, telling the New York Times: “If I knew then what I know now about what kind of situation we would be in, I would have opposed the war.”

Pat Buchanan called Chronicles the “toughest, best-written, and most insightful journal in America." Tom Wolfe wrote, “It has been a pleasure to watch… the Chronicles of Culture confront the smelly little orthodoxies of our time…"

Reagan himself said of Chronicles: “You are to be commended for articulating and encouraging a cultural perspective based on the enduring values of American Life.”

I want to help the new coalition arising around the most important issues of the time. I'll still write for and work with AG, just not as a staff writer. I'm really happy with the work I've done there, from covering Trump to immigration and Black Lives Matter. I'll also be stepping up my output—to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of their women!

As you probably noticed, Pedro has the fire in his belly. We all do. This fight before us requires just that. New alliances are forming as a younger generation rises to meet the challenges facing our country and way of life. Pedro is a perfect example.

You can catch Pedro tonight 6/4/21 at 9pm Eastern on the Primetime show on Newsmax hosted by Steve Cortes & Jenn Pellegrino!

Godspeed,
